The Alternative Wellness Center is a locally-owned, socially responsible medical cannabis center that offers a wide variety of high quality medical cannabis and related products. The founders, Ed Kieta and Pablo Gallegos, focus on giving the community a safe and effective choice beyond prescription medications and traditional western healing methods. We believe that time-honored holistic treatment in conjunction with modern medicine is the most sensible approach to today’s challenges in health care. Contrary to our federal government’s stance regarding the cannabis plant, cannabis has been effectively used for thousands of years as a safe and effective treatment for a variety of ailments. According to the anthropology community, cannabis was the first medicine used extensively on this planet.

Not only has cannabis been safely used as an effective medicine for thousands of years it is also the only plant that has the ability to supply all three essentials necessary for the survival of our species: food, clothing, and shelter. Environmentally sensitive clothing, paper, construction grade fiberboard, rope, cosmetics, and food made from the hemp seed are just the tip of the ice berg regarding the many beneficial uses of this amazing plant. The United States Constitution was written on hemp paper. For centuries the sails and ropes of ships sailing the open sea were made from hemp, as well as all style of clothing, including the first American Levi’s.

The hemp seed has a near perfect balance of the essential fatty acids, omega 3 and omega 6. Hemp fiberboard, superior to wood fiberboard in a variety of ways (stronger, more flexible, more water-resistant, and more fire-resistant) can be grown in 90 days versus 30 years! Using hemp for our paper and construction needs would allow us to stop cutting down the lungs of our planet. And making our clothes with hemp, which grows easily in a variety of climates and soil conditions, would allow us to stop using water, fertilizer, and pesticide intensive cotton. At Alternative Wellness Center, we believe that medical marijuana is only one of the many beneficial aspects of the cannabis plant and that time has come for our society to have a mature and intelligent discussion about the true benefits of this plant. Various industries have for too long adversely impacted the utilization of hemp and medical marijuana. Oh, and did we mention that both Thomas Jefferson and George Washington were hemp farmers?

At Alternative Wellness Center, we believe in a common sense approach to our health care. And we believe that medicinal marijuana, in conjunction with time-tested alternative wellness services, offers this option to our patients.

We believe that this sacred plant has been criminalized for the purpose of restricting industry competition and has been done so at tremendous expense to our health and our environment. The time has come for this revered plant to reclaim its rightful position as a benefactor and trusted companion of the human race.
